In my blog, some category has hundreds titles, almost all the themes will show all the details in the category index. Which makes my category page become really huge, it looks like list the contents of several books just in page, I need change it to only list the titles.
\nSome themes use the only content\/list loop for both main index and category list, those themes is useless for me, once you modify the category list, it also affects main index. \u00a0I need the category list which is separate.
\nThose themes has the category.php matches my requirement. \u00a0Here is the way how to modify\u00a0it:<\/p>\n

  1. Look for the code like
    \nwhile ( have_posts() ) : the_post();<\/code><\/li>\n
  2. Find the code in the loop like
    \nget_template_part( 'content', get_post_format() );<\/code>
    \nand comment it<\/li>\n
  3. Add the following code
    \n?>
    \n<a href=\"<?php the_permalink(); ?>\" title=\"<?php the_title_attribute(); ?>\"><?php the_title(); ?><\/a><br \/>
    \n<?php
    \n<\/code><\/li>\n
  4. List can be added to the code
    \nyou can do some modifications, like change the <br \/> to <li><\/li> pair, and put <ol> before the while loop as well as <\/ol> afterwards<\/li>\n
  5. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
